If you’re ready to take your blog to the next level, or even make a career out of it, then today’s post is written just for you! Being a blogger requires hard work and dedication. You start with an idea, gather supplies, take photos, write, and then market your posts. A lot more goes into blogging than meets the eye. Every successful blogger will agree that organization is key to running a successful blog. Lucky for you, I’m giving you a few tips on how to stay organized as a blogger.
1. Creating a Filing System
Contracts, invoices, receipts, and tax forms. As a blogger, papers can quickly pile up on your desk! It’s important to keep these papers organized in a way that you can easily grab what you need. I like to keep all of my current files organized in an expandable file folder box. You can also use a label maker to create labels for each tab.
Since blogging expenses are tax deductible, one of the most important things you have do is keeping all of your receipts! This file folder has also been a lifesaver for organizing my gigantic pile of receipts! When tax season rolls around I won’t be scrambling to find all of the documents I need because they are neatly organized in one place.
2. Create an Editorial Calendar
Becoming a more serious blogger means knowing exactly when and on which platform you need to post. Juggling sponsored posts, collaborations, and social media posts can quickly get overwhelming. The best way to keep track of everything is to create your very own editorial calendar. You can easily use a planner or your phone to schedule out all of your posts. I prefer to organize everything on my phone because I can set up alerts and reminder notes.
3. Become a Pro at Multitasking
When you’re a blogger, things can quickly pile up. You may have multiple posts due on the same day, an endless stream of emails and comments to respond to, and contracts to sign. Being able to multitask to get everything done quickly and efficiently is an important part of blogging.
I was super excited when I got my hands on the new Samsung Galaxy Note8 on one of my weekly trips to Target! This phone is a multitasker’s best friend! The split screen capability allows you to launch two or more apps at once. I love being able to search the web for inspiration and jot down notes at the same time!
4. Utilize the Power of Lists
Never underestimate the power of to-do lists! I’ll often start off the morning by creating a list of all the tasks that I need to accomplish for the day. Whenever I complete a task, I’ll cross it off from my list and be filled with a feeling of satisfaction. I also create lists for DIY supplies that I need to purchase or even blog ideas that I’ll get throughout the day.
The Samsung Galaxy Note8’s “screen off memo” function has definitely come in handy for creating lists. All you have to do is pop out the S Pen and start writing! You don’t even have to unlock the phone and it will be saved in Samsung Notes. I also love the fact that the S Pen allows for complete precision. This means that my handwriting really looks like my handwriting!
5. Create a System to Organize Your Photos
Keeping your blog photos organized is one of the not-so-fun parts of blogging. I myself love taking photos but hate the tedious task of organizing all the files. I have found that the best way to organize them is by creating folders organized by year. I will then create subfolders within each year and label the subfolders with the exact date and description of the photos.
This method makes it super easy for me to grab the photos I need if a magazine or other websites want to feature my work. At the end of each week, I will backup all of my photos onto an external drive. You MUST make it a habit to back up your photos! Trust me you do not want to lose any of your work.
6. Invest in a Phone with a Great Camera
I truly believe that, in the future, phone cameras will be so high tech that we won’t need to lug around bulky DSLRs. Investing in a phone with a great camera is one of the best investments that you can make as a blogger. You won’t always have your camera with you, but you will most likely always have your phone wherever you go. I take most of my social media photos using my phone and love the fact that it’s such a time saver.
My favorite feature of the Samsung Galaxy Note8 is the camera! The camera comes with a dual-lens system that allows you to zoom 2X closer and create that beautiful bokeh effect (softly blurred background). I also love using the “Pro Mode” because it allows you to control the ISO, shutter speed, and white balance (just like a DSLR). The Note8 also allows you to easily organize your photos into albums so that you can post your social media posts in a breeze.
The Samsung Galaxy Note8 is available for purchase at your local Target in the Electronics section. Be sure to enter the sweepstakes below for a chance to win a Samsung Galaxy Note8 prize pack or a $275 gift card!
